Christmas Letter 2006
Dearest Family and Friends,
We pray your 2005 was filled with goodness of the Lord. We are overwhelmed by His love and grace in our lives this year as we recount all the amazing things the Lord has shown us and continues to show us.
Last year at this time we were visiting Michigan, trying to discern if the Lord was definitely calling us here to start a home bible study. During that trip, it became very obvious that Port Huron was to be our new home. As we went back to California, it was extremely difficult to tell family and friends we would be moving. It was definitely a bitter sweet situation, since most of our family and friends were in California. Yet the Lord had given us such a desire and passion for ministry opportunity in Michigan.
We began our mission in April. Jay began diligently looking for work and immediately found a job as a Mortgage Loan Officer....After only one paycheck in 2 months, we realized that the market isn't as booming in Michigan as it is in California. Today, he is in the process of interviewing with Cintas uniform company.
In June, I was diagnosed with Uterine Cancer. Despite not having insurance, we are thankful that the Lord is sovereign and has been faithful to provide for all of my needs. In September I had a total hysterectomy. As I was making the decision to do preventative radiation, I began to experience pain and a biopsy revealed the cancer was still there. I had a CT scan done and that revealed the cancer had metastisised to the lungs. Currently, I am undergoing chemotherapy and standing on the promises of the Lord to be with me through it. When I was first diagnosed, the Lord clearly gave me a scripture that I continue to cling to today...It is John 11:4. Look it up. I am confident that the Lord will be glorified through this cancer. So far, He has done many things in many lives. My sister has since recommitted her life to Jesus and is now becoming the person He made her to be. My dad has been saved and the Lord is growing in him a hunger for the Word. God desires to get our attention, so that we would know that this life we are living is a gift from Him and we should give it back by honoring Him with our lives. My life is not my own, and neither is yours. The faster we realize it and surrender it to the Lord, the fuller and richer our lives will be. We were made to worship. And when we don't worship Him, we are definitely worshipping something. What or who do you worship today? Yourself? I did, for many years. Until the Lord rescued me. I pray that as you read this your hearts cry would be 'AMEN!'.
I wish I could express in this letter the joy and peace the Lord has given me through this. Moreso, I pray that each of your would experience His joy and peace for yourselves. I am so thankful that many of you do. I also realize that many of you may be trusting in your own good works. I must tell you, God does not have a scale where He weighs your good and bad. And He doesn't compare you to the mass murderer. He will judge the very thoughts of your heart and the things you do when no one is watching.....unless you are BORN AGAIN. The Word of God says, unless a man is born again, He will not see the Kingdom of God. The work that Jesus did on the cross is finished. He alone accomplished all we need for salvation and He alone can save us from judgement because He is no longer on the cross but is alive and sitting at the right hand of the Father in glory. Surrender to Him today. He loves you and desires to bless your life. It's not about what you must give up, it's about ALL that you get. Forgiveness of sin and HEAVEN!!! Someone once said, "This life will soon pass, only what is done for Christ will last."
We love you all so much and are so blessed by all of the love and support received by each of you. God's love is magnified in your kindness. We pray that the coming year is filled with much grace, peace, joy and love only found in Christ Jesus.
All for Jesus,
Jason and Sonia
